Men's Soccer Falls to Misericordia in Overtime of the ECAC Semifinals

Widener fought hard but fell to Misericordia in overtime of the ECAC South Region semifinals, 1-0, in Reading, PA.
 
Sophomore Dave Sousa (Springfield, Pa) recorded eight saves in 98 minutes for the Pride.
 
Sousa, Honorable Mention All-Commonwealth Conference, finishes the season first in school history with eight shutouts this season.  He also closes with an .836 save percentage and 92 saves on the season. Sousa also ranks second in team history with a 0.94 goals against average.
 
Derek Antonini scored to give third-seeded Misericordia (14-6-2) the overtime victory in the 99th minute.
 
Junior Eric Taylor (Bensalem, Pa) recorded three shots for the Widener (11-7-1).
 
Juniors Grant Shaffer (Glen Rock, Pa), Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ), and Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ) each added a shot for the Pride.

Remondelli finishes the season ranked first in team history with 14 goals this season and 26 career. He also is first with 32 points this season and 59 for his career.
 
Widener played in the ECAC Tournament for the fifth time in school history. The seventh seeded Pride advanced to the semifinals of the ECAC tournament for the first time since 1999.
