Men's Soccer to Visit Grove City in the ECAC South Tournament

Widener's men's soccer team learned today it is the seventh seed for the ECAC South Tournament and will visit second-seeded Grove City in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
 
Game time in Grove City, PA is 2:00 pm.  The winner advances to the semifinals on Saturday to face either third-seeded Misericordia or No. 6 seed Marywood.
 
Widener (10-6-1, 3-5 CC) had a solid campaign in posting its greatest victory total since 2004, falling just one win shy of making the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
 
Junior midfielder Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) has enjoyed a monster campaign in a season that is not complete.  One of the program's most prolific scorers, Remondelli was tabbed first team all-conference this season after being picked second team as a sophomore and Honorable Mention as a freshman.
 
This season, Remondelli has scored a school-record 13 goals and tied a team mark with 30 points.  He ranks first in school history with 25 goals and tied for second with 57 points.
 
Junior midfielder Ross Staudt (Marlton, NJ) was named Honorable Mention all-league after finishing the regular season tied for second on the team with three assists and tied for sixth with three points.  He started all 17 games this year and was a key member of a defense that closed fourth in the conference with 18 goals allowed.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Dave Sousa (Springfield, PA), also picked Honorable Mention all-conference, finished the regular season tied for second in school history with seven shutouts.  He ranked tied for second in the conference with 76 saves and had a 1.00 goals-against average in starting all 17 games.
 
This is Widener's fifth trip to the ECAC Tournament and first since 2008.
 
Grove City (12-7-1) advanced to the Presidents' Athletic Conference final before losing to Thomas More.
