Men's Soccer Ties Marywood 1-1 in Defensive Battle

Sophomore Tory Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) netted his fourth goal in as many games as Widener tied Marywood 1-1 in Scranton, PA.

The match remained scoreless throughtout the first half.

Widener (2-1-1) had some opportunities but were unable to finish until Remondelli netted a direct kick from 25 yards out in the 51st minute. Remondelli leads the team with four goals and ten total points.

The lead would not last long as Marywood's Daniel Lopez scored the equalizer five minutes later off another direct kick. The score would remain the same until the final whistle.

Senior Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) led the defense and made a career-high 15 saves for the Pride. The goaltender showed his importance by tripling his saves per game average.

Sophomore Zac Furia (Morton, PA) led the team with four shots, while Senior Matt Montera (New City, NY) and junior Troy Czapor (Richboro, PA) each added two shots.

Widener will be back in action Sunday at Wilkes at 2:00 pm.
