Volleyball Falls, 3-0, to Stevenson

Reigning Commonwealth Conference champion Stevenson simply was too much for Widener as the visitors were dealt a 3-0 loss (5-25, 16-25, 13-25) in both teams league opener in Owings Mills, MD.

Stevenson (5-0, 1-0 CC) established momentum in the first set with 12 kills and just two errors over 23 attacks for a .435 percentage. Widener (2-3, 0-1) was limited to only three kills for a -.154 percentage.

Junior Kaitlin Schnalzer (Bethlehem, PA) and senior Veronica Vizzard (Havertown, PA) had three kills apiece, freshman Sabrina Barbieri (Glen Mills, PA) posted seven assists and nine digs, with Vizzard adding seven digs for the Pride. Freshman Brooke Ruditys (Upper Chichester, PA) and sophomore Cassidy Kerezsi (Upper Chichester, PA) notched six digs apiece.

Christine Isenberg and Imani Hudson had 12 kills apiece, Jessica Gieselman posted 40 assists and Samantha Perillo amassed 21 digs for the Mustangs, who ended with 44 kills and a solid .337 percentage.

Widener on Friday and Saturday competes at the Bomber Invitational in Ithaca, NY.
