Men's Soccer Gets a Pair of Second-Half Goals in 2-0 Win at Lancaster Bible

Sophomore Eric Taylor (Bensalem, PA) and senior Matt Parrotta (Torrington, CT) each scored in the second half to help Widener take control for a 2-0 victory at Lancaster Bible in Lancaster, PA.

Widener dominated much of the play, but finally took the lead on the scoreboard in the 58th minute. Sophomore Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) got the ball and fed a pass to Taylor, who collected it and scored his second goal of the season.

Then it was time for Parrotta, who was playing in just his fourth game this year after suffering an injury in preseason. Taylor got the ball to senior Matt Montera (New City, NY), who then hit Parrotta with a feed. Parrotta was right there in the 62nd minute to net his fourth goal of the season and close the scoring.

Freshman Max Reid (Munich, Germany) and sophomore Eric Bihlear (Tabernacle, NJ) each had two shots for the Pride (5-4-1), who closed with a 10-5 edge and won for the third time in their last four outings. Senior Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) only had to make one save.

Josiah Groff attempted three shots and Stefan Smith had two saves for the Chargers (2-6-1).

Widener opens Commonwealth Conference play next Saturday against Alvernia, starting at 7:00 pm.
