Women's Basketball Wins, 68-65, Over Albion in Last Minute Comeback

Widener fought back in the final minute to secure a 68-65 victory over Albion in the opening game of the Puerto Rico Holiday Tournament in San Juan, PR.

Trailing 65-63 with 45 seconds remaining, senior Jen Egee (Ridley Park, PA) drained a 3-pointer to put the Pride up by one.

Widener (6-3) then held Albion scoreless on the next possession and force the Britons to foul Egee with 14 seconds remaining. Egee made both shots from the line to lock up the Pride's third win in a row.

Sophomore forward Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) notched her first career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Egee, the reigning Commonwealth Conference and ECAC Player of the Week, led the team with 28 points to mark the fourth game in a row she scored at least 27. With 22.4 points per game, Egee leads the conference in points and with 29 three-pointers.

Egee now stands at 986 points, only 14 shy of becoming the 11th player in school history to reach 1,000 career.  She also has 189 career 3-pointers, tying her with Moira Donohue from Delaware Valley for the ninth most in Middle Atlantic Conference history.

Junior starters Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) and Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) each scored 11 points. Reiter is fourth on the team with 8.2 points per game, followed by Colella with 7.7 per game.

Leading the Pride with five assists was freshman point guard Leilani Beckham (Aldan, PA), who is ninth in the conference with 3.1 assists per game.

Brett Debear scored 23 points and Mikaela Bromley added 11 for the Britons (3-6).

Widener returns to action Thursday against Mary Washington in Puerto Rico at 4:00 pm ET.
