MAC Title and Keystone Cup On The Line for Football Heading into the Final Week of the Regular Season

Widener has been used to late-season dramatics and this Saturday will prove to be no different as the squad visits Doylestown for a match-up at Delaware Valley to end the regular season.

Kickoff is at 1:00 pm.

So now to the good stuff. Widener (6-2 MAC) has a chance to clinch a share of what would be a league-record 20th Middle Atlantic Conference title with a win and a loss by first-place Lebanon Valley (7-1) at Albright (5-3).

Now to the even better stuff. Widener can secure a league title and a 14th trip to the NCAA Tournament with a win, a loss from Lebanon Valley and a loss from Lycoming (6-2) at Stevenson (3-5).

The contest also is for the Keystone Cup, the trophy contested for annually between Widener and Delaware Valley since 1981. Widener holds a 24-8 edge since the trophy's creation.

Widener's offense this season has been riding the arm of freshman Seth Klein (Wernersville, PA), who for the third straight week leads the nation in completion percentage as he stands at .762. He already is third in school history with 250 single-season completions and 10th with 2,501 single-season passing yards.

Junior All-America Anthony Davis (Upland, PA) again has been tearing it up at wide receiver and returner. He is fifth in school history with 33 touchdowns, second with 4,873 all-purpose yards, third with 29 touchdown receptions, second with 175 receptions, fifth with 2,592 receiving yards, first with 67 kickoff returns, first with 1,515 kickoff return yards and first with 79 receptions this season.

The defense once again has gotten the job done as it sits 30th with 74 team tackles, 61st with 19.3 points allowed per contest and for a loss and 64th in the country with 127.6 rushing yards allowed per game. The team has permitted just 23 first-quarter points all season.

Junior outside linebacker Brandon Harper (Blackwood, NJ) paces the team with 61 tackles, senior all-league standout and outside linebacker Dylan Ditmer (Exton, PA) is next with 57 and senior preseason All-America safety Colin Masterson (Swarthmore, PA) is third at 47. Ditmer also paces the linebackers with 11 1/2 tackles for a loss.

Lebanon Valley gets the automatic berth with a win or a Widener loss. Lycoming gets the bid with a win, a Lebanon Valley loss and a Widener win.
