Women's Basketball Notches 80-59 Win at Lycoming

Sophomore Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) helped spur the deciding first-half run for Widener in an 80-59 Commonwealth Conference win at Lycoming in Williamsport, PA.
 
Following a slow start, Widener used a 16-3 spurt over the final 7:39 of the opening half to gain a 35-18 lead.  Colella scored six points in the run with senior and fellow post player Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) adding four.
 
The Pride (15-4, 10-2 CC) shot 38 percent (12-of-32) from the field in the half, but were benefitted by the Warriors (5-13, 5-7) hitting only 17 percent (6-of-35) from the floor and 4-of-12 from 3-point range.
 
Colella scored 12 points to match her career high from January 7, 2012 against Penn State Brandywine.  Senior Lil Carney (Narberth, PA) poured in 15 points, freshman Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) netted 12, Hejnas and junior Jennifer Egee (Ridley Park, PA) scored nine points apiece and senior Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) tied a season high with 13 rebounds.
 
Olivia Manges had 11 points and seven rebounds with Rachael Scheller adding 11 points for the Warriors, who shot 28 percent (18-of-65) from the field and 10-of-20 from beyond the arc.
 
Widener remains on the road Wednesday to face Stevenson, starting at 6:00 pm.
