Volleyball Goes 1-1 to Open Play at Bomber Invitational

(vs. St. John Fisher) / (vs. Cabrini)

Widener opened Friday with an impressive 3-0 victory over St. John Fisher (25-16, 25-12, 25-21) before a gut wrenching 3-2 loss to Cabrini (25-20, 25-15, 24-26, 20-25, 15-17) at the Bomber Invitational in Ithaca, NY.

Against St. John Fisher, senior Meghan Spence notched 10 digs, sophomore Kaitlin Schnalzer had eight kills and junior Maggie Greenberg amassed 19 assists to go with 11 digs.

Versus Cabrini, Spence posted 30 digs and Greenberg totaled 44 assists. Senior Angela DiMaria notched 15 kills and 11 digs, junior Veronica Vizzard had 11 kills and four block solos with senior Shauna Phillips getting 10 digs.

Widener on Saturday faces Union at 10:00 am and then will be in Bracket Play at either 2:30 pm or 4:30 pm.
