Troy Czapor’s Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer Over Hood, 1-0

(boxscore)
The scoreboard remained tied at zeroes until in the 89th minute Troy Czapor (Richboro, PA) hit his third goal of the season to help the Pride bring home a 1-0 win today at Hood in Frederick, MD.

Both teams were having trouble finding the goal throughout the entire game, as the score stayed 0-0 up until the end of the second half. Due to a red card Widener had to play a man down for the whole second half, but that did not stop it from putting up 17 shots. Tori Remondelli (Point Pleasant, NJ) put up a shot that was blocked by Blazer's goalkeeper Ryan Deuber, but Czapor was there to boot the rebound into the back of the net for the only goal of the game.

The Pride (4-5-1, 1-0 CC) put up a total of 23 shots to three for Hood (3-3-2, 0-1) and had seven more corner kicks. DJ DiPaola (Havertown, PA) took six shots and Remondelli took four, while Derek Brubaker (Lancaster, PA) put up three of his own.

Jakub Valdner (Bratislava, Slovakia) spent the full 90 minutes between the posts and made three saves, allowing no goals.

Widener next travels to Arcadia for another Commonwealth Conference game on Wednesday, beginning at 7:00 pm.
