Women's Basketball Defeats Rowan 98-43

(boxscore)
Widener never trailed and outscored Rowan in both halves to post a 98-43 victory today at Schwartz Center.

Widener came out in the first half looking to get a jump on Rowan—and did exactly that, sending the game into the break ahead 55-24. The Pride shot 42 percent from the floor and took advantage of free throws, shooting 10-for-12 from the line. Ally Ferrucci (Vineland, NJ) and Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) had four steals apiece to go towards the team's 12 in the first half. Ferrucci also had eight assists before the break.

Widener (8-2) left no doubt in the outcome of the game, outscoring Rowan 43-19 in the second half. The Pride defense forced Rowan (3-7) into 32 turnovers overall and to be beat by the shot clock three possessions in a row. Sophomore Paige Davis (Newark, DE) grabbed an offensive rebound and put it up for a two-point buzzer shot for the final.

Jennifer Egee (Ridley Park, PA) led the team with 18 points -- 12 of which were from 3-pointers. Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) totaled 11 points by hitting three 3-pointers and a jump shot. Senior Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) and freshman Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) each netted 10 points apiece.

Eyandra Molina scored 18 points for the Profs, who were held to just 28 percent shooting (12-of-43) from the floor.

Widener travels to Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ to take part in the MSU Holiday Tournament on December 29 against Vassar at 8:00 pm, with the consolation and championship games to be played December 30 at 1:00 and 3:00 pm.
