Volleyball Headed Back to Conference Tournament Thanks to 3-0 Victory Over Albright

Widener took control of things in the second set and clinched its sixth straight berth in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament with a 3-0 triumph (25-18, 25-9, 25-16) over Albright at Schwartz Center.

 
Widener in the second set amassed 11 kills, including five by senior Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA), and only two errors.  Albright in the set had six kills and was forced into eight errors.
 
DiMaria closed with nine kills and 13 digs with fellow senior Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) getting 16 digs on Senior Night.  Sophomore Maggie Greenberg (Meadowbrook, PA) totaled 28 assists and eight digs for the Pride with junior Veronica Vizzard (Havertown, PA) amassing six kills and no errors for a .429 hitting percentage.
 
Christa Mantz notched eight kills and 16 digs, Casey McFadden had 18 digs, Morgan Heath dished 18 assists and Alexa Jones notched 11 digs for the Lady Lions (6-15, 1-7 CC).
 
Widener (15-15, 5-3) sits in fourth place in the conference, one-half game ahead of Lycoming (5-4).  The Pride end the regular season Thursday at Alvernia, beginning at 7:00 pm in Reading, PA.
