Field Hockey Loses To No. 18 Elizabethtown, 3-1

Widener traveled to Elizabethtown today and came home with a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference loss at Wolf Field.
 
Elizabethtown, who is ranked 18th in the Penn Monto/NFHCA DIII National Poll, was first on the scoreboard about 11 minutes into the first half, and followed with another goal eight minutes later. Both goals were credited to Jacki Hikes for her fourth and fifth goals of the season.
 
About a minute before the first half ended, Widener (5-10, 3-4 CC) senior Olivia Burgese (Collegeville, PA) took a shot from the top of the circle that was then tipped in past keeper Lindy Hamp by Katie Ferguson (Glen Mills, PA).
 
At 46:45 Blue Jay sophomore Kendra Hudson received a pass from Hikes for the final goal of the game.
 
Ferguson and Brittany Creighton (Pitman, NJ) took two shots apiece, with Lindsay Donovan (Pittsgrove, NJ) and Nicole Nardone (Garwood, NJ) each taking one. Maggie Karmeris (Wilmington, DE) played the full game between the posts, making nine saves. Hamp allowed one goal and made two saves for Elizabethtown (13-3, 6-1 CC).
 
Widener will take one Messiah at home on Wednesday October 24 for its final Commonwealth Conference game of the regular season, beginning at 4:00 pm at Edith R. Dixon Field.
