Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 To Stevenson In Conference Game

Widener played hard right up to the end, but lost 2-0 to Stevenson in tonight's Commonwealth Conference match at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
 
Stevenson put up 14 shots in the first half, but Widener defense and eight saves from Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) held the first 45 minutes to a 0-0 tie.
 
The first goal for Stevenson (8-4-1, 2-1-1 CC) came at the 58th minute by Ashlyn Hawbaker, with the assist going to Meaghan Williams.
 
Mustang's Catherine Madden scored her first goal of the season on a feed from Jennifer Simkin at the 78th minute for the final.
 
For the Pride (5-6-1, 2-2) Jenna Pedrick (Sicklerville, NJ) put up three shots and Karen Thomas (Mullica Hill, NJ) took two, both on goal. Hejnas played the first 82 minutes in goal and made 11 saves. Olivia Pfautz (Ephrata, PA) stepped in for the last eight minutes.
 
Widener will travel to take on Alvernia in another Commonwealth Conference match-up on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 am.
