Women's Basketball Rolls to 65-40 Triumph Over Lycoming

Sophomore Jennifer Egee (Ridley Park, PA) scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half, when Widener opened a 14-point lead and cruised to a 65-40 Commonwealth Conference win over Lycoming at Schwartz Center.
 
Egee hit two 3-pointers during an 11-2 run in just under seven minutes to help Widener take a 26-14 lead with 4:50 to go in the half.  She shot 3-of-5 from the floor in the half and sophomore Joanna Persiano (Absecon, NJ) scored nine points as Widener opened a 31-17 halftime cushion.
 
Lycoming made just five baskets in the half and was held over seven minutes in the stanza without a field goal.
 
Egee tied her season high in points from December 29 against Montclair State.  She also hit three 3-pointers and played just 16 minutes.
 
Junior Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) scored 13 points, Persiano netted 12 and junior Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) added 10 and seven rebounds for the Pride (11-6, 4-2 CC), who have won four of their last six outings.
 
Sophomore Lil Carney (Narberth, PA) hauled in a game-high eight rebounds to help Widener post a 37-18 edge, including 18-6 on the offensive glass.
 
Julia Antonelli scored 11 points with Ali Derr and Kat Andriani adding eight apiece for the Warriors (8-8, 3-3), who shot 40 percent (15-of-38) from the field.
 
Widener on Wednesday visits 21st-ranked Lebanon Valley, starting at 6:00 pm in Annville, PA.
