(box score)

Widener gave up the go-ahead basket to Elizabethtown with 24 seconds left and was dealt a crushing 78-76 road Commonwealth Conference loss.

Kyle McConnell hit two free throws with two minutes left to give Elizabethtown a 75-73 lead.  Widener (10-4, 1-2 CC) looked to respond, but freshman Dillon Fields (Medford, NJ) made just 1-of-2 from the line with 1:33 to play for a 75-74 contest.

Senior Jack Brennan (Stratford, NJ) then took his turn at the stripe and canned two with 1:17 left for a 76-75 lead.  After Andrew Mantz missed a layup for the Blue Jays, Widener looked to extend its lead.  But junior Lamar Jackson (Philadelphia, PA) committed a turnover with 42 seconds remaining to give the home team another shot.

Elizabethtown (5-8, 1-2) this time would capitalize as Mantz redeemed himself by hitting a layup with 24 seconds to go for a 77-76 lead.  Widener looked to take the clock and down and go for the win, but Brennan committed a turnover in the closing seconds.

Will Schlosser made one free throw with four seconds left to give Elizabethtown a 78-76 lead and missed the second, but Dan Silver grabbed the offensive rebound and ran out the clock.
