Volleyball Trounces Arcadia 3-0

Widener overpowered Arcadia in just three sets (25-8, 25-11, 25-10) in both teams Commonwealth Conference opener.

The Pride (5-4, 1-0 CC) came out strong in the first set and it carried through the entire match. Seniors Nicole Merton (Media, Pa) and Alectra Edison (Lancaster, CA) each notched five kills and no errors overall. Freshman hitter Caitlin Horan (Morristown, NJ) entered the third set and ended with a hitting percentage of .500. They were not alone, however, as the entire squad worked together to tally some kills to help Widener take three easy wins.

Sophomore setter Maggie Greenberg (Meadowbrook, PA) gathered 26 assists, two kills and one ace. Freshman Kaitlyn Schnalzer (Allentown, PA) totaled seven service aces and junior Angela DiMaria (Warrington, Pa) added two of her own. Junior libero Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) had 12 digs and three aces.

Widener travels to Aston on Friday for its next two matches against Wesley and Bryn Mawr.
