Volleyball Splits a Pair at DeSales Tri-Match

Widener was dealt a 3-2 loss (14-25, 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 15-17) loss by DeSales before notching a 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-20) over Penn State Altoona in Center Valley, PA.

Widener (14-7) and DeSales played for the third time this season and all three matches went to five sets. The Pride lost at the Knights Invitational on September 17 before winning in the Middle Atlantic Conference crossover on September 30.

Freshman Kaitlyn Schnalzer (Bethlehem, PA) had 14 kills and 10 digs with senior Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) getting 46 assists and 18 digs. Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) had 11 kills and 23 digs, fellow junior Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) notched 41 digs and senior Nicole Merton (Media, PA) pounded 10 kills.

Versus Penn State Altoona, Ballew had 42 assists and 16 digs, Schnalzer recorded 10 kills and 24 digs with DiMaria getting 10 and 19. Spence notched 37 digs, Merton had 18 kills and freshman Victoria Miller (West Chester, PA) got 14 digs.

Widener on Wednesday visits Lycoming for a 7:00 pm Commonwealth Conference match.
