Field Hockey Team Invites All to Stick it to Cancer on Saturday

Widener's field hockey team invites everyone to show their support on “Stick it to Cancer Day” on Saturday, when the squad battles Cabrini at noon.
 
Fans are asked to wear pink to show their support for the cause.  Donations will be accepted with all proceeds benefiting the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
 
Did you know that 11 million cancer survivors living today in America?  Donations like those being accepted at this game will help a wide range of cancer-related disciplines at over 230 medical schools and universities in America.  Over 1.5 million new cases of cancer will be discovered in American in 2011, including over 75,000 in Pennsylvania.
 
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this marks the fourth straight year Widener is raising money and awareness for cancer research.
 
More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.  Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between ages 15 and 54.  It is the second cause of cancer death in women 55 to 74.
