Brittany Creighton Scores a Pair for Field Hockey in 4-1 Victory at Delaware Valley

(box score)

Junior Brittany Creighton (Pitman, NJ) scored twice and added an assist for Widener, which gained control of the match early and rolled to a 4-1 victory at Delaware Valley in Doylestown, PA.

Creighton wasted little time, scoring in the seventh minute to give Widener a 1-0 lead.  The margin was doubled in the 29th minute when junior Emily Norcross (Erial, NJ) found the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the season.

Delaware Valley (2-7) got a goal from Rony Jacober in the 59th minute to close to 2-1, but that would be the only blemish for Widener (6-3).  Junior Nicole Nardone (Garwood, NJ) tallied in the 61st minute off Creighton's assist for her fifth goal of the year and Creighton scored in the 68th minute.

It was Creighton's third career two-goal game as she notched her previous two a season ago versus Swarthmore and Gwynedd-Mercy.

Senior Colleen Cormier (Westampton, NJ/) fired seven shots and Nardone added five for Widener, which ended with a 26-4 edge.  The Pride also had a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Jacober took two shots and Hollis Hancock made 17 saves for the Aggies.

Widener is home Saturday against Cabrini at noon on “Stick it to Cancer Day.”  All fans are asked to wear pink to support the cause and donations will be accepted for the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
