Volleyball Sweeps Alvernia 3-0 For Conference Win

Widener dominated Alvernia in tonight's Commonwealth Conference match, 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-11).

The Pride (12-6, 3-1 CC) came out ready to play, outhitting the Crusaders 33-8 over three sets. Senior Nicole Merton (Media, PA) amassed seven kills and junior Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) added six. Freshman Kaitlyn Schnalzer (Allentown, PA) helped to give the Pride an edge by notching four out of the team's 11 service aces.

Libero Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) had 19 kills, setter Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) notched 13 assists and Maggie Greenberg (Meadowbrook, PA) added 10.

The Crusaders (7-8, 1-3 CC) had a total of six blocks, five of which came from senior Alyssa Soltis.

Widener travels to Rowan for its next match Thursday at 7:00 pm.
