Volleyball Suffers 3-2 Loss To Moravian

Widener took it to five sets, but could not come up with a win in 3-2 loss (17-25, 28-26, 25-13, 21-25, 12-15) to Moravian in the squad's last regular season match.
 
The first set got off to a slow start for the Pride (22-10), but they came back to win the next two. Moravian (21-11) evened the score when they took the fourth set with a come-from-behind win. The fifth set was anybody's to take and the score went back and forth until the Greyhounds finally won.
 
Senior Alectra Edison (Lancaster, CA) had 11 kills and no errors for a hitting percentage of .355. She also had two service aces, assisted with four blocks and had the game-winning kill in the second set. Fellow senior Nicole Merton (Media, PA) continued her to be a key component in the Pride's offense with 16 kills. Sophomore Veronica Vizzard (Havertown, PA) had six kills, including one that allowed Widener to take the third set. Junior Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) totaled eight kills, four service aces, and 17 digs.
 
Senior setter Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) posted yet another double-double as she totaled 44 assists and 19 digs in tonight's match. Junior libero Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) amassed 47 digs.
 
Widener is the second seed for the Commonwealth Conference Tournament and will host #3 seed Lebanon Valley in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 2, beginning at 7:00 pm.
