Men's Soccer Dealt 2-1 Loss To Lebanon Valley

(boxscore)
Widener played tough, but could not get up on Lebanon Valley as they lost 2-1 in Commonwealth Conference play at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Lebanon Valley (10-7, 3-2 CC) scored the first goal of the game at the 17-minute mark, but Derek Brubaker (Lancaster, PA) evened the game when he got the ball past goalkeeper James Clements near the 36-minute mark for his second goal of the season. Clements blocked an attempt by DJ DiPaola, but did not keep control of the ball and Brubaker tipped it in. Just into the second half at the 53-minute mark, the Dutchmen gained the lead with Andrew Cooper's unassisted goal. The Pride (3-11-2, 0-6) battled to tie up the game and stay alive, but fell short.

Senior Gareth Cooper (Royersford, PA), along with Brubaker, had two shots. Senior Ryan Frantz (Marlton, NJ) made four saves for the Pride.

Widener's next home game is Wednesday against DeSales at 7:00 pm, following the women's game against Arcadia at 4:00 pm.
