Field Hockey Shuts Out Albright 3-0 For Conference Win

Nicole Nardone (Garwood, NJ), Colleen Cormier (Westampton, NJ) and Kate Fay (West Chester, PA) each scored for Widener in a 3-0 Commonwealth Conference win against Albright at Edith R. Dixon Field.

The first goal of the game came just 15 minutes into the first half. Emily Norcross (Erial, NJ) put the ball in at the top of the key on a penalty corner, where Nardone fed it into the net past goalkeeper Marguerite DeLucas. The second goal for the Pride (5-3, 1-1 CC) occurred with just seconds left in the first half, when Cormier blasted it into the goal with no assist. To make the game a sure win, Nardone fed the ball to Fay who buried it at the 44-minute mark.

Widener outshot the Lady Lions 14-5, and was also awarded five more penalty corners. Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Karmeris (Wilmington, DE) marked her second shutout of the season and made two saves today.

Albright fell to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Widener hits the road on Wednesday, October 5 to take on Delaware Valley at 4:00.
