Dellinger’s Career Double-Double Lifts Women’s Basketball Past Wesley For Ninth Straight Win

Sophomore Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) posted career highs of 27 points and 19 rebounds in leading Widener to its ninth straight win, 72-70 at Wesley to open the Wesley Shootout in Dover, DE

Dellinger shot 9-for-11 from the line and hauled in eight offensive rebounds as the Pride (11-1) matched their best start in school history, set during the 1976-77 season.  She topped her previous highs of 23 points on December 4 against Messiah and 11 rebounds accomplished twice last season.
 
Francesca Lee (Hainesport, NJ) had 13 points and 10 rebounds with fellow sophomore Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) adding 10 points and a career-best 14 rebounds for Widener.  Freshman Alyssa Wiggins (Swedesboro, NJ) scored 10 points for the Pride, who shot 35 percent (26-of-74) from the field.
 
Cory Boyd poured in 21 points and Jazmine Miller added 18 for Wesley (5-4), which shot 39 percent (29-of-66) from the field but had its four-game winning streak snapped.
 
Widener on Wednesday plays No. 6 Williams in the final at 4:00 pm.
