Women’s Basketball Wards off Neumann in 82-70 Win

(box score)

Junior Lindsay Pepino (Oceanside, NY) and freshman Jennifer Egee (Ridley Park, PA) keyed the decisive run as Widener remained perfect on the road with an 82-70 victory at Neumann in Aston, PA.

Widener (4-1) pulled away with a 13-4 run in just under three minutes for a 73-64 lead with 3:39 remaining.  Pepino scored seven points in the run and Egee canned a pair of 3-pointers.

The Pride once again got it done from beyond the arc, shooting 10-of-20 one game after dialing up 11 three-pointers Saturday at McDaniel.  Egee netted four from long distance with freshman Alyssa Wiggins (Swedesboro, NJ) hitting three.

Wiggins hit arguably the game's biggest 3-pointer, one at the end of the first half to forge a 38-38 tie and help the Pride erase an 11-point deficit.

Junior Lil Carney (Narberth, PA) scored 26 points to match her career high from January 13, 2010 against Albright.  She also added nine rebounds, one short of a career best, and seven assists over 37 minutes.

Pepino netted a career-best 16 points with Egee and Wiggins adding season highs of 14 points for Widener, which moved to 4-0 in road games.  This helped the Pride shoot 40 percent (25-of-63) from the floor.

Katie Young had 19 points and 15 rebounds with Krista DiRomualdo contributing 17 points for the Knights (2-3), who shot only 35 percent (22-of-63) from the floor and 5-of-20 from 3-point range.

Widener is home Monday against King's at 6:00 pm as part of a doubleheader.  The men's game against Cabrini starts at 8:00 pm.
