Volleyball Splits a Pair at Home Tri-Match

Widener earned a 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-23, 27-25) over DeSales before falling 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 16-25, 22-25) to Penn State Altoona at its home tri-match at Schwartz Center.
 
Against DeSales, junior Nicole Merton (Media, PA) and freshman Heather Long (Ephrata, PA) each finished with nine kills, and hitting percentages of .381 and .400, respectively. Junior Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) dished 37 assists and recorded 10 digs. Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) closed with 16 digs and fellow sophomore Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) added 14.
 
Kylie Fehnel recorded eight kills and 15 digs for the Bulldogs (11-11) with Justine McNulty adding 21 assists and 16 digs.
 
The win was Widener's third straight three-set victory and fifth out of its last six.
 
Versus Penn State Altoona, sophomore Shauna Phillips (Dallas, PA) notched 12 kills with DiMaria and Merton adding 10 each. Ballew ended with 38 assists and 20 digs. Spence totaled 34 digs and DiMaria chipped in 10.
 
Widener on Wednesday hosts Albright for a Commonwealth Conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
