Widener earned its fifth straight victory and closed the Commonwealth Conference regular season with a 3-2 triumph (19-25, 25-18, 25-6, 22-25, 15-8) over Arcadia in Glenside, PA.
After Arcadia took the first set, Widener rebounded with wins in the next two and had a .348 team-hitting percentage in the third set. After dropping the fourth set, the Pride cruised in the finale for the 400th victory in program history.
Junior Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) and sophomore Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) both posted double-doubles for the Pride (21-11, 5-2 CC). Ballew finished with 43 assists and 10 digs, and DiMaria recorded 13 kills and 11 digs.
Freshman Stephanie Schutt (Tucson, AZ) closed with 18 digs, sophomore Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) had 17 and senior Erin Gravelle (Media, PA) added 14. Junior Alectra Edison (Lancaster, CA) ended with a .368 hitting percentage.
Widener earns the fourth seed in the conference tournament and will travel to Elizabethtown on Wednesday, November 3rd for a semifinal match. The Pride handed the Blue Jays their only regular season conference loss, 3-1 at Schwartz Center on September 15.
Natasha Wetten recorded 11 kills and 27 digs for the Knights (7-14, 0-7) and Carlee Rossiter dished 31 assists.
Widener on Friday rounds out the regular season slate when it travels to Bethlehem, PA to face Moravian at 7:00 pm.
