Volleyball Notches 3-0 Victory Over Rowan

Widener took control in the second set and was on cruise control the rest of the way in a 3-0 victory (26-24, 25-16, 25-18) over Rowan at Schwartz Center.
 
Widener (17-11) scored the first 12 points of the second set and rolled to a highly impressive .319 hitting percentage, courtesy of 18 kills and only three errors. Rowan (14-9) managed just four kills in the set.
 
Junior Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) had 30 assists and 16 digs with sophomore Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) adding 22 digs for Widener. Sophomore Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) pounded 12 kills, junior Nicole Merton (Media, PA) had a solid .304 percentage, freshman Stephanie Schutt (Tucson, AZ) recorded 12 digs and senior Erin Gravelle (Media, PA) contributed 11.
 
Katie Havlicek (Midland Park, NJ) had 10 kills with Nikki Ciandella (Hoboken, NJ) adding 21 assists for the Profs. Lauren Ruffalo (Marlton, NJ) recorded 14 digs, Casey Grasso (Wilmington, DE) notched 11 and Megan Mondelli (Wayne, NJ) added 10.
 
Widener on Saturday hosts a tri-match, facing Neumann at 10:00 am and Misericordia at 2:00 pm. It also is “Breast Cancer Awareness Day” with donations being accepted for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
