Widener took control in the second set and was on cruise control the rest of the way in a 3-0 victory (26-24, 25-16, 25-18) over Rowan at Schwartz Center.
Widener (17-11) scored the first 12 points of the second set and rolled to a highly impressive .319 hitting percentage, courtesy of 18 kills and only three errors. Rowan (14-9) managed just four kills in the set.
Katie Havlicek (Midland Park, NJ) had 10 kills with Nikki Ciandella (Hoboken, NJ) adding 21 assists for the Profs. Lauren Ruffalo (Marlton, NJ) recorded 14 digs, Casey Grasso (Wilmington, DE) notched 11 and Megan Mondelli (Wayne, NJ) added 10.
Widener on Saturday hosts a tri-match, facing Neumann at 10:00 am and Misericordia at 2:00 pm. It also is “Breast Cancer Awareness Day” with donations being accepted for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
