Widener took control early and never looked back in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) Commonwealth Conference victory over Albright at Schwartz Center.
Widener (16-10, 4-1 CC) in the first set hit .231 to pull away late and forced Albright to hit only .143. The Pride's defense stepped up in the final two sets as the Lady Lions (8-14, 2-3) hit just .067 and .095, respectively.
Junior Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) had 28 assists and 10 digs for her 15th double-double of the season and fifth in the last six matches. Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) had nine kills and 15 digs with fellow junior Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) getting 20 digs for the Pride.
Danielle Ozment recorded 12 kills and 17 digs with Lauren Higgins dishing 26 assists for Albright. Casey McFadden notched 14 digs and Kelly Nicodemus contributed 12.
Widener sits tied for second place with Elizabethtown in the conference and one match behind first-place Lebanon Valley (5-0).
Widener next Tuesday visits Messiah for a huge conference tilt. Match time in Grantham, PA is 7:00 pm. The Pride can clinch a conference tournament berth with a victory.
