Widener rallied for a 3-2 victory (19-25, 25-11, 25-23, 20-25, 15-9) over St. Mary's (MD) before a 3-1 loss (14-25, 25-20, 17-25, 16-25) to Frostburg State at the Haverford Invitational.
Against St. Mary's Sophomore Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) had 49 assists and 10 digs with senior Danielle Wetling (Upper Darby, PA) adding 11 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) notched 14 kills and 15 digs with senior Devan Green (Monroe Center, IL) posting 12 kills.
Freshman Meghan Spence (Havertown, PA) recorded 19 digs and junior Erin Gravelle (Media, PA) finished with 18 for the Pride (3-2).
Versus Frostburg State, Ballew closed with 30 assists, Spence notched 16 digs and freshman Chelsea Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ) had nine kills and nine digs.
Spence enjoyed a phenomenal defensive weekend with 59 digs and was named to the all-tournament team.
Widener on Wednesday hosts Moravian at 7:00 pm.
