Sophomore Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) dished 33 assists and senior Danielle Wetling (Upper Darby, PA) pounded 13 kills for Widener, which rolled to a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-22, 25-19) over Scranton.
Ballew, the defending Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year, again was on her game in helping set Widener (1-0) to a .233 hitting percentage. Wetling, also tabbed second team all-league, ended with a .333 percentage.
Sophomore Nicole Merton (Media, PA) had seven kills, freshman Angela DiMaria (Warrington, PA) notched 11 digs and first team all-league senior Julieanne Gryn (Springfield, PA) had nine.
Julia Kropf had 10 kills, Juli Woods dished 24 assists and Marissa Every had 22 digs for the Royals (0-1).
Widener on Friday competes at the Haverford Invitational. The Pride battle Susquehanna at 4:00 pm and Stevens at 8:00 pm.
