Sophomore Dan Lorenzet (Forest Hill, MD) scored his first career goal in the 52nd minute, propelling Widener to a season-opening 1-0 triumph over Haverford at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Lorenzet took a great pass 10 yards out from sophomore Bahae Boutayeb (Philadelphia, PA) and buried it inside the left post. This helped the Pride (1-0) gain a 7-2 shots edge in the second half and 12-3 overall.
Senior Hamed Correa (Cali, Colombia) made it stand with two saves. Junior Colin Koch (Perkasie, PA) fired three shots.
Jamey Applegate stopped three shots for the Fords (0-1).
