Widener sweated out the final moments against Rowan, but captured the Oki Data Americas Tip-Off a third straight year with a 65-60 triumph at Schwartz Center.
Sean Hughes drilled a 3-pointer to bring Rowan within 62-60 with 20 seconds left. Sophomore Perry Wright (Severn, MD) hit a pair from the stripe to give Widener a 64-60 lead with 18 seconds remaining.
Hughes missed a 3-pointer and junior Chris McDevitt (Doylestown, PA) grabbed a huge rebound. McDevitt drilled 1-of-2 from the line with five seconds left for the final.
Sophomore Jack Brennan (Stratford, NJ) scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and was named the tournament MVP. He ended the weekend with 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting with 11 rebounds.
Wright finished today with 13 points and McDevitt had 12 for the Pride (3-0), who shot 43 percent (22-of-51) from the field and 8-of-17 from beyond the arc.
Tyson Hartnett scored 15 points with Hughes and Sean Secula netting 11 apiece for the Profs (2-1).
Regis (2-1) won the consolation game, 83-50 over Saint Joseph's (Brooklyn). Jesse Vega ended with 24 points on 6-of-7 shooting, nine rebounds and was 11-for-11 from the line for the Pride.
Wright, Vega, Hartnett and Antoine Forehand from Saint Joseph's (1-3) joined Brennan on the all-tournament team.
Widener on Tuesday visits No. 5 Richard Stockton for an 8:00 pm contest in Pomona, NJ.
