DJ DiPaola's Overtime Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to Thrilling 1-0 Victory at Lycoming

(boxscore)

Freshman DJ DiPaola (Haverford, PA) scored 2:38 into overtime to give Widener a dramatic 1-0 victory at Lycoming in both teams Commonwealth Conference opener in Williamsport, PA.

DiPaola took a pass six yards out from junior Justin Hovaker (Pasadena, MD) and headed one past David Bald for his second career goal.  That lifted Widener (4-5-2, 1-0 CC) to its fourth result in its last five matches (3-1-1).

Senior Hamed Correa (Cali, Colombia) made four saves for the Pride.

Lycoming (8-3, 0-1) was handed just its second loss in the last eight games.

Widener is off until next Saturday, when it hosts top-ranked Messiah as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  The men play at 8:00 pm, which follows the women's 6:00 pm match.
