Men's Soccer Settles For 2-2 Tie at Immaculata

(boxscore)

Widener built a two-goal lead in the first 17 minutes, but then saw it dissipate in the final nine minutes and had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Immaculata.

Senior Doug Gabel (Feasterville, PA) opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 17th minute for Widener (1-2-1).  Freshman Gareth Cooper (Royersford, PA) just 53 seconds later buried his first collegiate goal for a 2-0 cushion.

But the Mighty Macs (0-2-1) got a tally from Dan Arteglier in the 82nd minute and a goal from Blake Cain in the 88th minute for a 2-2 contest.  Alan Lorentz assisted on both markers.

Immaculata posted a 4-2 shots edge in the extra sessions and Widener junior goalkeeper Marty Squicciarini (Lansdale, PA) had to come up with three saves.

Gabel ended with five shots as the Pride close with a 17-12 advantage.  Squicciarini finished with five saves.

Zach Oas played the final 65 minutes for the Mighty Macs, finishing with two saves.

Widener on Wednesday visits Philadelphia Biblical for a 4:00 pm match.
