Field Hockey Cruises to 8-0 Blanking of Neumann

Junior Jessica Gonzalez (Eastampton, NJ) scored twice and dished an assist for Widener in an 8-0 rout of Neumann at Edith R. Dixon Field.

 

The Pride (1-1) opened a 4-0 halftime lead thanks to a 5-1 shots edge.  Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby, PA), fellow junior Ellen Etzweiler (Landisville, PA), freshman Natalie Gifford (Morton, PA) and senior Trina Menta (Broomall, PA) all scored in the period.

 

Gonzalez netted a pair in the second half for the final margin.  Amanda Nagy (Lititz, PA) and fellow sophomore Lauren Fidati (Forest Hill, MD) also tallied for the Pride, who ended the game with a 12-2 shots advantage.

 

Menta, senior Erica Rose (Plymouth Meeting, PA) and sophomore Megan Scarpinato (Sewell, NJ) each had an assist for Widener.  Sophomore Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) got the win in goal and junior Katie Jensen (Center Valley, PA) made two saves.

 

Jordan Haviland (Aurora, CO) had two saves for the Knights.

 

Widener on Saturday visits Cabrini for a 12:00 noon start.
