Widener gave a solid effort, but permitted three second-half goals in a 4-0 loss to No. 20 Montclair State at Edith R. Dixon Field.

The Red Hawks (1-0) picked up some momentum when Deana Hagel (Fairfield, NJ) scored in the 50th minute for a 2-0 lead.  Hagel also scored 12 minutes later off a feed from Justine DiPaolo (Lanoka Harbor, NJ) for a 3-0 cushion.

DiPaolo closed the scoring in the 66th minute to help Montclair State gain a 17-4 shots edge.

Sophomore Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) made 12 saves and junior Dina Haritonidis (Upper Darby, PA) had a defensive save for the Pride (0-1).

Megan Walsh (Lumberton, NJ) had a goal and an assist, and Megan Pietrunti (Middletown, NJ) added an assist for the Red Hawks.  Emina Udrjia (West Paterson, NJ) notched two saves.

Widener is home Thursday against Neumann, beginning at 7:00 pm.
