Widener gave a valiant effort in its season opener only to be dealt a 1-0 overtime loss by Richard Stockton at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

In the 95th minute, Pat Tolomeo (Ocean City, NJ) fired a shot that banged off the right post.  Brennen Fitzsimmons (Neptune, NJ) got the rebound and flicked a backheel toward the net that glanced off a Widener player and in.

Widener (0-1) had a golden chance late in regulation as senior Kyle Leahy (Baltimore, MD) fired a shot from inside 10 yards over the crossbar.  The Ospreys (1-0) had their best shot in regulation saved by junior Marty Squicciarini (Lansdale, PA) off a boot from Tolomeo in the 75th minute.

Tolomeo ended with six shots as Richard Stockton posted a 12-10 edge.  Matt Hart (Dayton, NJ) closed with two saves.

Senior Doug Gabel (Feasterville, PA) had three shots and Squicciarini ended with three saves for the Pride.

Widener concludes its play in the Garnet Alumni Classic on Saturday at home against Skidmore, beginning at 2:00 pm.
