Women's Basketball Makes It Six Straight With 68-55 Victory Over Rowan

Senior Barbara Fleming (Philadelphia, PA) scored 16 of her season-high 21 points in the first half for Widener, which built a huge lead en route to a 68-55 victory over Rowan at Schwartz Center.
 
Fleming shot 7-of-13 in the opening half, helping Widener hit 47 percent (18-of-38) from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range for a 45-20 halftime lead. Senior Beth Dessart Mager (Newtown Square, PA) netted 14 points in the half, drilling all four of her 3-point attempts.
 
The Pride (7-3), who led by as many as 27, held the Profs (6-4) to only 38 percent (8-of-21) shooting in the half and notched a 20-13 rebounding edge.
 
Fleming shot 9-of-17 from the floor and tied her career best with five steals, previously accomplished twice. Dessart Mager netted 16 points with a career-best four 3-pointers, hitting 6-of-12 from the field, and freshman Casey Pritz (Abington, PA) closed with nine points and seven rebounds.
 
Gina Catanzariti scored 15 points, Jessica Nimbley had 13 and eight rebounds, and Ashley Cieplicki netted 11 points for Rowan.
 
The Pride's six-game winning streak is their longest since beginning the 2005-06 season with six consecutive victories.
 
Widener returns to action Tuesday, December 30 against Scranton, beginning at 7:00 pm at Schwartz Center.
