Freshman Jamie Ballew (Media, PA) dished 41 assists and junior Julieanne Gryn (Springfield, PA) had 24 digs for Widener, which broke the school record for most victories with a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference triumph (25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22) over Lycoming at Schwartz Center.
Ballew once again paced the offense and Gryn set the tempo on defense for Widener (22-7, 4-2 CC), which broke its previous win total set in 1991 (21-11) and has six 20-win seasons in school history.
Junior Devan Green (Monroe Center, IL) had 12 kills with freshman Rachel Lambert (Glenmore, PA) recording 10 and a .400 hitting percentage. Senior Ashley Varallo (Havertown, PA) notched 15 digs and junior Danielle Wetling (Upper Darby, PA) added eight kills.
Heather Frantz had 13 kills and 29 digs with Emily Abel adding 29 digs for Lycoming (13-18, 0-5). Amy Sharlow dished 19 assists and Abby Myers had 14 for the Lady Warriors.
The Pride clinched the third seed in the conference tournament and will be on the road for the semifinals Wednesday, November 5. Lebanon Valley plays at Elizabethtown on October 29 for the regular-season title with the loser being the No. 2 seed and Widener's opponent.
Widener is home Thursday against Rowan, beginning at 7:00 pm.
