9/26/07 -- Sophomore Sean Matthews (Warminster, PA) scored on a header in the 68th minute to ignite a four-goal second half for Widener, 4-0 victors over Immaculata at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Junior Bill James (Perkasie, PA) lofted a corner kick from the left side for Matthews, who put the ball past goalkeeper Stone Gahagan for his first goal of the season.
Senior Frank Nolan (Hatboro, PA) gave the Pride a 2-0 lead 10 minutes later. He lofted a shot from 25 yards that went over Gahagan's head and in for his second marker of the year.
Junior Doug Gabel (Feasterville, PA) tallied on a short boot thanks to Nolan's long ball and Billy Stangroom (Bethlehem, PA) scored off an assist from James.
Sophomore Justin McCall (Brookhaven, PA) came off the bench to take six shots for Widener (5-4), which posted a 25-4 shots advantage.
Sophomore Marty Squicciarini (Lansdale, PA), the reigning Commonwealth Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, needed just one save for the Pride.
Alan Lorentz had two shots and Gahagan made three saves in over 78 minutes for the Mighty Macs (4-5).
Widener hits the road Saturday to visit DeSales, beginning at 3:00 pm.
