9/22/07 -- Senior Chad Dye (Bel Air, MD) and sophomore Max Bernhard (Coopersburg, PA) both scored and sophomore Marty Squicciarini (Lansdale, PA) played solidly in net for Widener, which snapped its four-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Wesley at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Dye opened the scoring for Widener in the 12th minute with his second goal of the season. He attempted a penalty kick that was saved by Nick Talarico, but Dye headed in the rebound inside the left post.
Bernhard came through in the 51st minute with his second marker of the year. Sophomore Rob Hagelin (Downingtown, PA) played a long ball for sophomore Sean Matthews (Warminster, PA), who crossed it in front. Bernhard took the pass and deposited the ball inside the right post.
That closed the scoring in a contest which Widener (4-4) posted a 13-12 shots edge.
Squicciarini played great with two saves, robbing Allen Justis in close in the first half and making a diving stop on a point-blank attempt from Matt Nimmerichter in the second.
The physical match saw Widener end with 20 fouls and Wesley 13.
Talarico made five saves and Justis closed with five shots for the Wolverines (4-5).
Widener is home Wednesday against Immaculata at 4:00 pm.
