Field Hockey's School-Record Winning Streak Reaches Seven With 2-0 Triumph at DeSales

9/22/07 -- Senior Mallory Meyer (Lansdowne, PA) and junior Erica Rose (Plymouth Meeting, PA) each scored for Widener, which remained undefeated after seven games with a 2-0 victory at DeSales in Center Valley, PA.

Meyer in the 21st minute netted her second goal of the season, giving Widener a 1-0 lead. The unassisted marker came on a long shot from the top of the circle.

Rose's fourth tally of the year closed the scoring with 44 seconds left in the opening half, thanks to a feed from sophomore Kelly Eash (Glenolden, PA).

Freshman Megan Purcell (Perkasie, PA) got her second start of the year and came up big with eight saves. Meyer ended with six shots to help Widener (7-0) finish with 14.

Molly Pope had six saves and Jamie Matthews took six shots for DeSales (3-5).

Widener is home Wednesday against Richard Stockton, beginning at 4:00 pm at Edith R. Dixon Field.
