9/15/07 -- Despite junior Doug Gabel (Feasterville, PA) scoring late in the first half, Widener gave up three second-half goals to Cabrini in a 3-1 loss at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Gabel's third goal of the year came on a 10-yard shot following a long pass from senior Drew Wakefield (Telford, PA) in the 41st minute for Widener (3-3).
But Cabrini (6-1) evened the score in the 57th minute. Brian Moran ripped a shot from outside the box that was re-directed in by Evan Hanauer.
Joe Rotan gave Cabrini a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute. Hanauer put the ball in the box and Barry Magagna deflected it before Rotan knocked it home from 10 yards.
Magagna scored on a header in the 81st minute for the Cavaliers, who overcame a 19-13 shots deficit that included 11-4 in the opening half.
Sophomore Marty Squicciarini (Lansdale, PA) made five saves with junior Kyle Leahy (Baltimore, MD) and sophomore Kyle Brucker (Perkasie, PA) taking four shots apiece.
Colin Hinkelmon had six saves and Rotan took five shots for Cabrini.
Widener next Wednesday visits Swarthmore for a 7:00 pm start.
