9/13/07 -- Senior Jaime Carr (Norristown, PA) scored twice for Widener, which improved to its best start in school annals with a 3-2 victory over Wilkes at Edith R. Dixon Field.
Widener (4-0) grabbed a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute. Carr took a pass from sophomore Kelly Eash (Glenolden, PA) and blasted home a shot for her eighth goal of the season and 48th career, extending her own school record.
Mallory Meyer (Lansdowne, PA) made it 3-1 Pride in the 62nd minute when she fired in her first tally of the year thanks to a feed from fellow senior Colleen Guille (Springfield, PA).
Wilkes (2-2) closed to 3-2 in the 63rd minute when Devon McKay netted her first of the season from Alyson Paulauskas, but could get no closer.
The victory moved Widener past the 1980 squad, which began the season 3-0-1.
Sophomore Katie Jensen (Center Valley, PA) made five saves with Carr and Eash finishing with seven shots apiece for the Pride, who ended with a 23-8 shots advantage.
Julia Smith had 18 saves with McKay and Jennifer Keegan each closing with three shots for the Lady Colonels.
Carr opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Keegan knotted the game in the 44th minute with her third of the year.
Widener hits the road Saturday to visit Delaware Valley for a 12:00 pm start in Doylestown, PA.
