Brianne Comden is in her fifth season as an assistant coach with the women's basketball team in 2023-24. She will primarily be responsible for the development of post players and scouting.
“We are very excited to bring Brianne on staff at Widener,” said head coach Alisa Kintner. “Her experiences, both as a coach and a player, as well as her commitment to student-athlete success in the classroom make her an ideal fit for our program.”
Comden spent the last two seasons coaching at Swarthmore, where she was responsible for team scouting reports, development of post players, and recruiting. Under Comden's coaching, all three of the primary post players for the Garnet averaged better than five rebounds per game. Swarthmore hauled in 39.9 boards a contest and was fourth in the Centennial Conference on the offensive glass.
Prior to Swarthmore, Comden coached with the Spotsy Sting AAU team and worked with the Nike Girls Basketball Camp and the Navy Girls Individual Camp.
Comden had a standout career at the University of Mary Washington, earning two All-America honors while garnering First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference Honors three times and was the Conference Player of the Year in 2017. The Eagles went to the NCAA tournament twice in her four years and won the CAC Championship in 2016. Her 1,503 points rank third in school history.
