Ernie Pitone of the men’s cross country program won the individual crown at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships over the weekend and helped the Pride place sixth overall among 52 scoring teams. He navigated the 8,000-meter circuit in 24:52, which was six seconds ahead of runner-up finisher and teammate Will McDermott as well as 13 seconds faster than competitors from other schools in a field comprised of 351 harriers.

Pitone will next compete at the NCAA Championships for the third straight season on Nov. 19 in Louisville, Ky.
