Jordan Downes

Jordan Downes enters his third year with the Pride in 2023-24. He serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Downes works with all varsity sports throughout the week, while attending to various administrative duties for the athlete-only weight room at Widener.

Prior to Widener, Downes graduated from King's College with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science and a Master's in Nutritional Sciences. Downes is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Functional Movement Screening proctor, and a United States Weightlifting certified Coach.

Before working in athletics, Downes was a four-year varsity member of the King's College football team. On the gridiron, Downes earned All-MAC First Team honors in 2017, 2018, and 2019, while being selected to the All-Region Third Team in 2018 and 2019 as a running back. He was also named to the Academic All-MAC squad in 2019. Downes scored 24 rushing touchdowns while running for 2,794 yards in his career. He added six receiving touchdowns on 847 yards. He averaged 175.9 yards per game as a senior, while also returning kicks for the Monarchs. Downes finished his career third in all-time rushing at King's College. As a senior, he led the MAC in rushing yards per game with 112.9, while scoring nine touchdowns. This was all while missing one game. Downes finished second in the conference in all-purpose yards with 1,560, as he posted 38 receptions and 370 yards through the air. Downes was the first three-time All-MAC First Teamer on the offensive side of the ball at King's College. He capped off his career when he was selected to play in the National Bowl by Spiral.
