CHESTER, Pa. – A big sixth and seventh inning from the Neumann University Knights were to much for Widener Baseball to overcome.
The Pride fall to 13-13 and remain 5-4 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Dylan Neves was outstanding in his first collegiate start, tossing five innings only allowing one earned run on three hits
- Jon Aman had a solid day, going 3-5 with an RBI.
- Matt Koblos saw it well today, going 3-3 with two doubles and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights came out swinging early, hitting back-to-back doubles in the top of the first to give them an early 1-0 lead. The Pride got on the board in the bottom of the second, as Matt Koblos came up to the plate and poked an RBI single into right field to tie the game. Ryan Bauerle then did a job, hitting a ball hard on the ground to drive in another run and give Widener the lead. Widener added on to the lead in the bottom of the third as Jon Aman delivered an RBI single to right center. Chris Mckenna followed that up with a three-run shot over the left center field wall to give Widener a 6-1 lead. Jack Balcer added on two more with an RBI single up the middle.
- After Dylan Neves finished off a spectacular five innings on the mound, Neumann got the bats rolling, scoring six runs in the top of the sixth inning to bring the score within one. Brendan Raven answered in the bottom half of the sixth demolishing a solo shot over the left center field wall. Neumann was able to put together another big inning in the top of the seventh, putting up five runs to take a 12-9 lead. The Knights added on some insurance runs in the top of the ninth with a three run double. Widener was unable to get the bats rolling again and would lose by a final score of 15-9.
